Asia is home to the majority of the world’s commercial laying hens, with nearly 90% currently confined in cramped cages. However, surveys reveal high levels of public support for farmed animal welfare across the region.

The inaugural Asia Cage-Free Benchmark Report, a collaborative initiative of members of the Open Wing Alliance, examines the role of governments across Asia in supporting the transition to cage-free farming. The report provides a snapshot of the progress being made in the world’s most populous region.
